Boat Sailing - a frolic experience

It’s the rainy season and how can our kids forget to sail their boats in the rainy water? It has been a favourite activity for all the children since ages. Boat-sailing activity was conducted for the Pre-primary section. It was real fun to see the excitement in the eyes of our tiny Tots. Children of our school were taught to make paper boats and they sailed the boats in an artificial pond in the school. The concept of floating and sinking was explained to children by the teachers.

INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

DSK School introduced an “Internship program - the experimental way to learn,” from the academic year 2016-17.The Internship program was for the students of grade-IX. This experimental learning helped our students to relate the classroom theory to the world of work. It also gave students the opportunity to make connections in career fields that they might be considering. During their Internship programs, they learnt work ethics, work values, improved their communication skills. This program was beneficial for the girls particularly to explore non-traditional career fields.

Creativity Enhancement

School arranged an Essay writing competition grade for IX and X . The purpose of the Essay Competition was to give an opportunity to the students to demonstrate their writing skills, as well express their outlook on current national issues. The topics selected were: 1.Role of Youth in National Development 2. It is better to have brains than beauty The best writing comes from first hand – experience moulded with imagination.The students were judged based on the choice of the topic, originality of matter, enriched vocabulary, logical planning of the content, creativity and surprise elements to express their ideas.

Devotional song competition

With the essence and fragrance of the incense sticks all around us, as it is Ganpati time, DSK School also engaged itself in the Devotional song competition for the students of grade III and IV. Mrs. Rama Potdar, a classical singer and Mrs Uma Panse, the Vice President of the school were the judges for the competition. The students sang melodiously, the devotional songs like Bharud, Gondhal and many other Bhakti songs with great devotion. The students left the audience and the judges mesmerised. The judges finally arrived at a decision and declared 3rd Rose and 4th Lily as the winners. The students had really put their heart and soul into this competition and presented it very well.

The River rally project

Once again DSK School extends its humble support for The River Rally Project initiated by ShriSadguru, which is nationwide awareness campaign to revive our rivers. The Principal, Mrs.Sundari Jaishankar, addressed the students and explained the importance of saving the precious rivers which are fast depleting. In order to explain the criticality of the situation, a short documentary was shown to the students. The representative of the IshaSatguru foundation informed the students about their mission and how everyone could contribute to make it successful. The head girl of the school read out the pledge and the students and teachers repeated it after her, promising a better future for the generations’ to come. Students tied the blue band on the wrist to support the campaign.

SHRAVANI MAUJ

‘ShravaniMauj’ is one of the most important and celebrated events in the DSK school calendar. This year our school organized the ‘ShravanMauj’ function for the pre-primary section and the event was graced with the presence of the Director of the school, Dr. AshwiniKulkarni and the Vice Principal Mrs. Uma Panse. The celebration was initiated with ‘Ganesh Vandana’. The program showcased our Indian culture and traditions along with the beauty of the monsoon season through interesting dance performances of animated tiny tots. The dances left the audiences spell bound! It was indeed a beautiful event made memorable by the energetic little kids.

Festive mode…

An inter-house Grain Ganpati competition was organized at DSK School for the students of grade VI to VIII. The students were grouped into three categories as per the classes. Each group had four participants. Students came up with amazing creativity. Students first drew the sketch of the Ganpati and thereafter filled it up, using various Grains. It was a day where we saw creativity exploding in every piece of art. The children showcased their creative skills diligently. The criteria for judgment were: Proportionate Design, Appropriateness of grains used, Perspective, Overall impression of the art work, Colour scheme. The final judgment was made by the School Vice-President Mrs. Uma Panse and Principal Mrs. Sundari Jaishankar. Students proved that they not only excel in academics, but also shine in exhibiting their skills by their creative presentation. This fun filled activity witnessed an enthusiastic participation by the students.
